Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It comes with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The system runs Windows 11 Pro and includes a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 GPU with 4 GB of GDDR5 video memory.

Professionals needing certified graphics

This configuration suits engineers, designers and analysts who rely on ISV-certified drivers and 32 GB of RAM for large assemblies or datasets. The 72% colour gamut IPS panel supports colour-sensitive work. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher refresh rate display or more than 1 TB of internal storage should consider other models.

Sustained load with dual-fan cooling

The chassis uses a dual-fan thermal design to maintain airflow during extended compute or render sessions. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports allow multiple external displays without taxing the internal GPU. The 4.80 GHz turbo frequency is available when thermal headroom permits, while the 2.90 GHz base clock provides consistent throughput for long-running tasks.

Questions about this item

What Thunderbolt 3 peripherals can I connect to the single Thunderbolt 3 port on this Precision 5530?

The Thunderbolt 3 port supports x4 PCIe bandwidth for external GPUs, NVMe storage enclosures, high-resolution displays and docks that use the Thunderbolt protocol.

Will my existing SATA SSD work alongside the installed 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 drive in this laptop?

The specifications list only the M.2 NVMe SSD and no 2.5-inch SATA bay, so a SATA drive cannot be added internally without verifying the chassis layout first.

How can I confirm the NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 is active after installing Windows 11 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters and verify the Quadro P2000 appears; then run the NVIDIA control panel to see the 4 GB dedicated video memory reported.
