Mobile workstation for demanding workloads

The Dell Precision 5530 pairs an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor with a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics card carrying 4 GB GDDR5 memory. It targets engineers, designers and analysts who need certified professional graphics in a 15.6 inch form factor. The system ships with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 define the external

Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and one HDMI 2.0 output handle docks, high-resolution monitors and fast peripherals. The single Thunderbolt 3 lane carries both data and video, so total external bandwidth depends on the connected device and cable. No additional video outputs are present.

8 GB DDR4 memory is the limiting factor for large

The installed 8 GB DDR4 RAM cannot be expanded beyond the platform maximum of 32 GB, and the single 4 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD fills the sole M.2 slot. Buyers who need more memory headroom for virtual machines or heavy rendering should verify upgrade feasibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 8 GB DDR4 configuration or upgrade to 32 GB DDR4?

The unit ships with 8 GB DDR4 installed; the platform supports up to 32 GB DDR4 if you need more memory for larger workloads.

What does the 2.90 GHz base and 4.80 GHz turbo on the i9-8950HK mean for daily performance?

The six-core processor runs at 2.90 GHz base and can boost to 4.80 GHz with Turbo Boost, giving strong single-thread speed and multi-core throughput for CAD and rendering tasks.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 port allow me to connect?

Thunderbolt 3 provides x4 PCIe and HDMI 2.0 signalling, so you can attach external storage, docks or a 4K display through a single USB-C connector.
