Precision 5530 UHD touch workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation with a 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen. It runs on an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor at 2.90 GHz with turbo up to 4.80 GHz. The system includes 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Professional graphics come from an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Upgrading from integrated graphics

This configuration replaces systems that rely on integrated graphics or lower-core-count CPUs for CAD, 3D modelling or video editing. The dedicated Quadro P2000 and six-core i9 make the jump worthwhile when ISV-certified drivers and sustained multi-thread performance are daily requirements. Buyers who only need office applications or web browsing will not use the workstation-class GPU or the thermal headroom built into this chassis.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity limits

The single Thunderbolt 3 port provides x4 PCIe lanes for external GPUs, high-speed storage or dual 4K displays, but total bandwidth is shared with other Type-C functions. HDMI 2.0 supports one external 4K display at 60 Hz. The two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle peripherals at up to 5 Gbps. Users needing multiple Thunderbolt devices or more than two external 4K screens will hit the port count and lane limits of this platform.
