Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6" mobile workstation powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It ships with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. Professional graphics come from an NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits ISV-certified workflows

Engineers and designers running certified ISV applications will benefit from the Quadro P2000 and hexa-core CPU combination. The 72 % color gamut IPS panel supports colour-critical tasks. Buyers who need a touchscreen or a larger display should consider other models.

Deciding spec: Quadro P2000 4 GB

The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 determines whether this system meets professional graphics requirements. It provides ISV-certified drivers for CAD, DCC and visualization workloads. If your software demands higher video memory or a newer GPU architecture, this workstation will not match those needs.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the dual-fan cooling get when the Core i9-8950HK runs at 4.80 GHz all day?

The Precision 5530 uses a dual-fan thermal design built to sustain the i9-8950HK up to its 4.80 GHz turbo frequency during extended workloads.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock for the USB-C port and a standard HDMI 2.0 cable for the full-size HDMI output.

Will the Quadro P2000 with 4 GB GDDR5 drive my older 1920 x 1080 monitor without adapters?

Yes, the HDMI 2.0 port connects directly to a 1920 x 1080 display, and the Thunderbolt 3 port supports DisplayPort alt-mode for a second monitor.
