Precision 5530 Mobile Workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th-generation Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The system targets professionals who need certified graphics performance in a thin-and-light chassis.

Quadro P2000 Graphics Impact

A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P2000 with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory accelerates professional 3D and CAD applications that rely on certified drivers. The 1920 x 1080 IPS panel covers 72 percent colour gamut for accurate visual review. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 outputs allow connection to external displays or docking stations without adapters.

Premium Build and Daily Connectivity

The platinum silver chassis uses dual fans to manage thermals under sustained workloads. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle standard peripherals while the Thunderbolt 3 port supports high-speed storage or dual 4K monitors. A headphone/microphone combo jack and 720p webcam complete the conferencing setup. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of memory or a second internal drive should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The system supports up to 32 GB of DDR4, so the installed 8 GB can be expanded by adding compatible modules.

What thermal limit appears first when the i9-8950HK runs at 4.80 GHz for long periods?

The six-core processor can hit its maximum turbo frequency of 4.80 GHz, but sustained loads will trigger thermal throttling once the dual-fan cooling reaches its capacity.

How loud are the dual fans and how hot does the chassis get during an all-day render?

The cooling design uses two fans to move air through the thin chassis; under continuous load the fans become audible and the palm-rest area warms noticeably.
