Mobile workstation for creative pros

The Dell Precision 5530 pairs a 15.6 inch UHD touchscreen with an 8th Gen Intel Core i9-8950HK six-core processor and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 graphics. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB NVMe SSD handle large project files. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Dual-fan cooling under sustained load

Two internal fans move air across the CPU and GPU to manage thermals during rendering or simulation tasks. The 4 GB GDDR5 video memory on the Quadro P2000 keeps frame buffers local, reducing system-memory pressure. Thunderbolt and HDMI 2.0 outputs drive external displays without adding internal heat.

Connectivity and power accessories included

A Dell AC adapter supplies power through the barrel connector while the Thunderbolt port supports docking and high-speed peripherals. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and a headset jack cover everyday accessories. The 72 percent color-gamut panel improves colour accuracy for design review without external calibration hardware.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 128 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, and what step do people get wrong?

The 128 GB SSD mounts in the M.2 slot; the step people miss is enabling the NVMe controller in the BIOS before cloning or installing Windows 10 Pro.

What maintenance or replacement will the 32 GB DDR4 RAM need later?

The 32 GB DDR4 memory is soldered, so it cannot be upgraded or replaced; plan capacity at purchase because no SO-DIMM slots are available.

What limit shows up first under sustained use with the NVIDIA Quadro P2000 4 GB GDDR5?

The dual-fan thermal solution reaches its cooling ceiling first, causing the i9-8950HK to throttle from 4.80 GHz Turbo toward the 2.90 GHz base clock during long renders.
