Large-screen productivity laptop

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS laptop built for everyday work and study. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a 10th-generation Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with four cores and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Dual storage combines a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD with a 1TB hard drive for fast boot and ample capacity. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory handles typical multitasking.

Thermal behaviour and power

A 45-watt power supply feeds the system and charges the 3-cell 47 Whr battery. Integrated Intel UHD graphics keep heat output modest during office tasks, video playback and light creative work. The 60 Hz non-touch display draws little power, helping the cooling system stay quiet under normal loads. Fan noise rises only when the processor sustains its maximum turbo frequency.

Chassis, ports and daily use

The silver chassis measures 16.00 by 10.06 by 0.62 inches and weighs 5.06 pounds, so it suits a desk more than a daily commute. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 for modern wireless speeds. Ports comprise one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, HDMI, a microSD reader and a headset jack. A fingerprint reader and backlit full-size keyboard with numeric keypad support secure, comfortable typing.

Questions about this item

How do I install an extra RAM stick in the SODIMM slot without bending the pins?

Power off, remove the bottom cover, align the notch on the 4 GB DDR4 SODIMM with the slot key, press firmly until the side clips snap, then replace the cover.

Which storage drive will likely need replacement first under heavy write workloads?

The 1 TB HDD has moving platters and a shorter endurance rating than the 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD, so it usually fails sooner.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i5-1035G1 runs at 3.6 GHz for long periods?

The 45 W power supply and 47 Wh battery cannot sustain peak turbo, so the CPU throttles to stay within its thermal envelope.
