17.3-inch laptop for everyday work

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 pairs a 10th-generation Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory. Its 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60Hz. Windows 11 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed on the 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 1TB hard drive adds bulk storage for files and media.

Dual-drive layout and modern connectivity

The 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD holds the operating system and frequent applications for quick boot and load times. The 1TB hard drive provides room for large libraries, backups and archives. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 handle wireless networking and peripherals. Ports include USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a headphone/microphone combo jack.

Capacity for daily tasks, limited graphics headroom

Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory (4GB onboard plus 4GB SO-DIMM) supports web browsing, office suites and multitasking with several programs open. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics manages the 17.3-inch display and video playback but is not suited for modern gaming or GPU-intensive creative work. The 47 Whr battery and 45W power supply deliver typical mobile runtime; heavy workloads will drain it faster. Buyers needing dedicated graphics, more RAM or a touchscreen should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Can the 4 GB SODIMM DDR4 module be replaced with a larger stick later?

Yes, one 4 GB DDR4 SODIMM is removable so total memory can be increased beyond the factory 8 GB.

What stops the Core i5-1035G1 from holding its 3.6 GHz turbo during long workloads?

The 45 W power supply and 47 Wh battery limit sustained power, so the CPU drops to base clocks once thermal or power limits are reached.

How loud does the cooling fan get when the laptop runs all day?

The 3-cell 47 Wh battery and 45 W adapter mean the fan spins up under continuous load, producing noticeable but not extreme noise in a quiet room.
