17.3" FHD IPS Laptop with Dual Storage

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS laptop powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with four cores and a turbo frequency up to 3.6 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory split between onboard and SODIMM modules. The system includes a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD paired with a 1TB hard drive for combined speed and capacity. It runs Windows 10 Home on a silver chassis.

Suits office work and media viewing.

This laptop suits users who need a large 1080p screen for documents, browsing and streaming, plus the convenience of a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. It is not for buyers who need discrete graphics performance, a touchscreen or a lighter chassis for frequent travel. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles everyday tasks but is not built for heavy rendering or modern gaming workloads.

512GB PCIe NVMe SSD plus 1TB HDD decides fit

The single specification that decides whether this is the right part is the dual-storage layout: a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD for fast boot and application load times alongside a 1TB hard drive for bulk file storage. If your workflow requires more than 512GB of solid-state space or a second NVMe slot for expansion, this configuration will not meet that need.

Questions about this item

How much clearance does the 17.3-inch chassis need on a desk or in a bag?

The laptop measures 16.00 inches wide, 10.06 inches deep and 0.62 inches thick, so allow at least that footprint plus a few millimetres for cables and ventilation.

Which memory slot is user-accessible when upgrading the 8GB DDR4 configuration?

Only the single SO-DIMM slot is reachable; 4GB is soldered on the board, so any upgrade replaces the removable module only.

When should the 3-cell 47 WHr battery be replaced?

Plan on a new battery once run-time drops noticeably below the original capacity, typically after several hundred charge cycles.
