17.3-inch laptop with hybrid storage

This ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 combines a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display with an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor, 8GB DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout of 128GB PCIe NVMe SSD plus 2TB HDD. It ships with Windows 10 Home and includes a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader and 720p webcam for everyday productivity.

Ports, wireless and memory layout

Verify that the single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI and two USB 2.0 ports match your peripherals. The system uses 4GB soldered plus 4GB SO-DIMM DDR4, so only one slot is available for future expansion. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 provide the wireless connectivity.

Thermals, noise and power draw

A 45W power adapter charges the 3-cell 47 WHr battery while the integrated Intel UHD Graphics keeps heat output modest during typical office tasks. The 60Hz non-touch screen and lack of discrete GPU help maintain quiet operation under normal workloads.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The laptop includes a 45W power supply, a 3-cell 47 WHr battery, Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and a silver backlit keyboard with fingerprint reader. No optical drive is fitted, so external media or software downloads are needed for discs.

Should I choose the 128GB PCIe SSD plus 2TB HDD or a different storage layout?

The 128GB NVMe drive holds the OS and apps for fast boot times, while the 2TB hard drive provides bulk space for large files and backups.

How does the 3.6 GHz turbo frequency behave in daily use?

The Core i5-1035G1 runs at a 1.00 GHz base and can reach 3.6 GHz on up to four cores for short bursts, so web browsing and office tasks stay responsive while heavy loads throttle to manage heat.
