17.3-inch laptop with dual storage

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 combines a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display with an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor, 36GB of DDR4 memory, a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD and a 1TB hard drive. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and includes a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader and 720p webcam.

Dual-drive layout and upgraded memory

The 512GB NVMe SSD provides fast boot and application loading while the 1TB hard drive adds bulk capacity for media and archives. The 36GB DDR4 configuration uses 4GB soldered to the board plus a 32GB SO-DIMM, so only one memory slot remains free for future expansion.

Integrated graphics and port selection

Intel UHD Graphics handles the 1920 x 1080 panel at 60Hz but is not suited for demanding 3D workloads or modern gaming titles. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, a microSD reader and a combo audio jack.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB SODIMM module be replaced with a larger DDR4 stick later?

The 32 GB SODIMM is removable and uses DDR4; the 4 GB onboard portion is soldered and cannot be changed.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i5-1035G1 runs at 3.6 GHz for long periods?

The 45 W power adapter and 47 Wh battery constrain sustained turbo performance before the cooling system reaches its limit.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day workload?

The 45 W supply and integrated UHD graphics keep heat moderate; fan noise stays low for typical office use but rises under continuous heavy load.
