17.3-inch laptop for office and study

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch Windows 11 Home laptop built for everyday office work and study. It combines a large IPS display with a dual-drive layout and 36 GB of DDR4 memory. The silver chassis includes a backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader for convenient daily use.

36 GB DDR4 memory configuration

The system ships with 36 GB of DDR4 RAM arranged as 4 GB onboard plus a 32 GB SO-DIMM. This capacity supports smooth multitasking across browser tabs, documents and light creative apps. Buyers who need user-replaceable memory slots or a different DDR generation should look elsewhere.

Integrated graphics under sustained load

The Intel UHD Graphics core shares system memory and runs at a base frequency of 1.00 GHz with a turbo up to 3.6 GHz. During extended workloads the integrated GPU relies on the 45 W power supply and 47 Wh battery, so frame rates in 3D tasks will throttle compared to discrete solutions.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.6 GHz turbo frequency affect everyday tasks on this laptop?

The Core i5-1035G1 runs at 1.00 GHz base and can boost to 3.6 GHz on up to four cores, so web browsing, office apps and video playback stay responsive while the 36 GB DDR4 memory keeps multiple windows open without swapping.

What does the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port support in practice?

The USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C connector delivers up to 5 Gbps data transfer and can drive an external display through an adapter, while the separate HDMI port handles a second monitor directly.

Will a standard 2.5-inch drive caddy fit inside the 16.00 x 10.06 x 0.62 inch chassis?

The 17.3-inch chassis houses the factory-installed 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD and 2 TB HDD; no spare 2.5-inch bay or caddy is mentioned, so internal storage expansion would require replacing an existing drive.
