Large 17.3 inch display for multitasking

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3 inch laptop with a Full HD IPS panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It suits office workers and students who want a spacious screen for documents, spreadsheets or streaming without an external monitor. The Intel Core i5-1035G1 four-core processor reaches 3.6 GHz turbo frequency with 6MB cache. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles everyday visual tasks.

Dual-drive storage and 20GB DDR4 memory

A 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD provides fast boot and application loading, while a 2TB hard drive adds bulk capacity for media and archives. The 20GB DDR4 configuration combines 4GB soldered memory with a 16GB SO-DIMM module. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 deliver modern wireless connectivity. The 45W power adapter charges the 3-cell 47 WHr battery. Fan noise stays low during typical productivity workloads.

Fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard included

A fingerprint sensor integrated into the chassis enables Windows Hello sign-in without typing a password. The silver backlit full-size keyboard includes a numeric keypad for data entry. A 720p HD webcam supports video calls. Ports comprise one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a combo audio jack. Windows 11 Home 64-bit is pre-installed. Buyers who need discrete graphics for gaming or heavier creative work should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I add more RAM to the VivoBook S712JA-WH54, and which slot do people forget to check?

The laptop has 4GB soldered onboard and one SODIMM slot occupied by a 16GB DDR4 module; to upgrade you replace that SODIMM, but the onboard 4GB cannot be removed.

Which storage drive in the S712JA-WH54 is most likely to need replacement first?

The 2TB mechanical hard drive has moving parts and a higher failure rate than the 512GB PCIe SSD, so it will typically need replacement sooner.

What thermal limit appears first on the i5-1035G1 during long workloads?

The 4-core processor shares Intel UHD graphics and a 45W power supply, so sustained turbo up to 3.6GHz is limited by the cooling solution and power budget.
