17.3-inch laptop for everyday productivity

This ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a new 17.3-inch laptop built around a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with four cores and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 12 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as 4 GB onboard plus an 8 GB SO-DIMM, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed. The silver chassis weighs 5.06 lb and measures 16.00 x 10.06 x 0.62 inches.

Dual-drive storage and integrated graphics limits

Storage combines a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD for the operating system and applications with a 1 TB hard drive for larger files. Graphics are handled by Intel UHD integrated graphics, which share system memory and are suited to office work, video playback and light creative tasks rather than 3D rendering or modern gaming. The 60 Hz IPS panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Ports, memory layout and upgrade considerations

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1. Physical ports are one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 2.0 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, one HDMI, a micro SD reader and a combo audio jack. The 4 GB of onboard memory cannot be replaced; only the 8 GB SO-DIMM slot is user-accessible for future RAM upgrades. The 45 W power adapter and 3-cell 47 Whr battery are included.
