Product identity

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch laptop powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with 8GB DDR4 memory. It combines a 512GB SATA SSD and a 1TB hard drive with Intel UHD integrated graphics. The system ships with Windows 11 Home on a Full HD IPS display.

Suitability

This laptop suits people who want a large screen for office tasks, study or media playback and who value the fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard. It is not for buyers who want more storage than the combined capacity provided, nor for those who need a dedicated graphics processor for gaming or creative workloads.

Deciding specification

The integrated Intel UHD graphics share system memory and cannot be upgraded, so the choice hinges on whether your daily applications run acceptably on integrated graphics. If they do, the dual-drive layout and 17.3-inch panel deliver space and screen area; if they do not, a model with discrete graphics is required.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512GB SATA SSD + 1TB HDD combo or a single larger drive?

This model ships with both drives installed: a 512GB SATA SSD for the operating system and applications, plus a 1TB HDD for bulk storage. You do not need to choose between them.

What does the 3.6 GHz turbo frequency deliver in daily use?

The Core i5-1035G1 can boost up to 3.6 GHz on active cores, so short bursts such as opening apps or compiling code run faster than the 1.00 GHz base clock, while sustained loads settle lower.

What does the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port actually support?

The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port runs at up to 5 Gbps for data and can carry a video signal to an external display with a suitable adapter or cable.
