17.3-inch laptop for office and study

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 combines a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display with an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor, 36GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout of 512GB SATA SSD plus 1TB HDD. It ships with Windows 11 Home and includes a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader and 720p webcam for everyday productivity.

Upgraded memory and storage configuration

The 36GB DDR4 total comprises 4GB soldered on board and a 32GB SO-DIMM added by the integrator, while the 512GB SATA SSD and 1TB hard drive are installed as a matched pair. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 replace the standard wireless card, and the 45W power supply with 47Wh battery supports the larger chassis.

Integrated graphics and SATA storage limits

Intel UHD Graphics handles only light media and basic desktop work; it cannot accelerate modern 3D titles or GPU compute tasks. The 512GB boot drive uses the SATA interface rather than PCIe, so sequential transfer rates remain at SATA speeds. A single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port provides 5Gbps data only, with no video or charging roles documented.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB SODIMM module be replaced with a larger DDR4 stick later?

The laptop has one SODIMM slot alongside 4 GB of soldered memory, so the removable stick can be swapped for another DDR4 module up to the platform limit.

What limits sustained performance first, the 45 W power supply or the 47 Wh battery?

The 45 W adapter caps continuous power draw; the 47 Wh battery only matters when unplugged.

How loud does the cooling fan get during an all-day workload?

The 17.3 inch chassis uses a single fan; under steady load it runs at an audible but not intrusive level.
