Ready for everyday work

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch laptop built for office tasks and study. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with four cores and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. The system pairs 12 GB of DDR4 memory with a 128 GB SATA SSD and a 1 TB hard drive for responsive boot times and ample file storage. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles standard display output on the Full HD IPS panel.

Thermals and power in daily use

A 45 W power adapter supplies the system while a 3-cell 47 WHr battery provides mobile runtime. The chassis measures 16.00 by 10.06 by 0.62 inches and weighs 5.06 lb, allowing the cooling solution to manage heat from the 1.00 GHz base processor during typical productivity workloads. Fan noise remains low during document editing or video playback, rising only when sustained turbo frequencies are needed. The 60 Hz display refresh keeps power draw modest for routine use.

Build integration and expansion

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 for modern wireless peripherals. Physical ports comprise one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a combo audio jack. The backlit full-size keyboard with numeric keypad and fingerprint reader support secure, comfortable input. Buyers who want a second high-speed SSD or discrete graphics will need a different platform, as the storage bay and graphics are fixed.

Questions about this item

How do I add more memory and which slot do I use?

The laptop has 4 GB soldered on the board and an 8 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM in the single expansion slot; to increase capacity you must replace that SO-DIMM with a larger DDR4 module.

Which storage drive will I need to replace first?

The 1 TB hard drive is the only mechanical component and will likely fail before the 128 GB SATA SSD, so plan to swap the HDD for a larger solid-state drive when it shows errors or slows down.

What thermal limit appears first during a long heavy workload?

The 45 W power adapter and 47 Wh battery cannot sustain the CPU at its 3.6 GHz turbo for extended periods, so the processor will throttle to stay within the cooling and power budget.
