Large-screen productivity laptop

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA pairs a 17.3 inch Full HD IPS display with a four-core Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor that reaches 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Thirty-six gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout combining a 2TB SATA SSD with a 2TB hard drive give ample space for multitasking and large file libraries. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The integrated Intel UHD graphics and 45 watt power supply indicate the system is tuned for office applications, web browsing and media playback rather than extended heavy compute or gaming sessions. The 47 watt-hour battery and 60 Hz panel support typical workday use away from a desk. Thermal headroom is sized for the 10 watt base processor and integrated graphics under continuous load.

Chassis, connectivity and daily use

A silver finish covers a 16.00 by 10.06 by 0.62 inch frame weighing 5.06 pounds, offering a full-size backlit keyboard with numeric keypad and a fingerprint reader for quick sign-in. Ports include one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 2.0, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI, a microSD reader and a combo audio jack. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 handle wireless peripherals and network access.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i5-1035G1 get under sustained load with the 45W power supply?

The 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 runs at a 1.00 GHz base and 3.6 GHz turbo with a 45W power supply and a 3-cell 47 WHr battery; typical office workloads stay quiet, while prolonged heavy tasks will raise fan speed and surface temperature.

Which peripherals or cables are not included but required to use the USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1 and HDMI ports?

The laptop provides one USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1, one USB 3.2 Gen1, two USB 2.0, one HDMI and a micro SD reader; you only need compatible cables or adapters for the specific monitors, drives or devices you plan to connect.

Will my existing DDR4 SODIMM modules work alongside the 32GB stick already installed?

The system ships with 4GB onboard plus a 32GB DDR4 SODIMM for 36GB total; the single SODIMM slot is occupied, so additional modules cannot be added without removing the existing 32GB stick.
