17.3-inch Windows 10 Pro laptop for office and study

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 combines a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout of 256GB SATA SSD plus 2TB HDD. The 17.3-inch Full HD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60Hz. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Silver chassis with fingerprint reader and USB-C

The silver body weighs 5.06lb and measures 16.00 x 10.06 x 0.62 inches, housing a backlit full-size keyboard with numeric keypad and a 720p HD webcam. Ports include USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, two USB 2.0, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a combo audio jack. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1.

Upgrade from smaller-screen

The large IPS display and combined SSD-plus-HDD storage suit users who want more screen real estate and capacity without moving to a workstation-class machine. Integrated Intel UHD graphics limit the system to light creative tasks and casual gaming. Buyers needing discrete graphics or higher core counts should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What devices can the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port connect and what speed does it cap at?

The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port supports data transfer up to 5 Gbps and connects peripherals such as external drives, docks or displays that use the USB-C connector.

What are the chassis dimensions and weight so I can check bag or sleeve fit?

The laptop measures 16.00 by 10.06 by 0.62 inches and weighs 5.06 lb, so choose a sleeve or bag rated for at least a 17.3 inch device with those clearances.

How do I add more memory and which slot is user-accessible?

Remove the bottom cover to reach the single SO-DIMM slot; the 4 GB onboard memory is soldered and cannot be changed, so insert a compatible DDR4 module into the free slot to upgrade.
