17.3-inch FHD IPS laptop for everyday work

This ASUS VivoBook pairs a 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display with a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor running at 1.00 GHz base and 3.6 GHz turbo. It comes with 12 GB of DDR4 memory configured as 4 GB onboard plus an 8 GB SO-DIMM and a 2 TB SATA SSD. Windows 11 Home 64-bit is pre-installed and the chassis weighs 5.06 lb.

Suits office users who want a large screen

The 17.3-inch panel and full-size backlit keyboard with numeric keypad help with spreadsheets and long typing sessions. Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1 handle modern wireless needs while the 720p webcam covers video calls. Buyers who need discrete graphics for gaming or heavy rendering should look elsewhere because this model relies on Intel UHD integrated graphics.

2 TB SATA SSD decides storage fit

The solid-state drive uses the SATA interface and provides 2 TB of capacity for the operating system, applications and large file libraries. It has no mechanical hard drive, so the SSD is the only internal storage device. The single USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1 port and one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port set the fastest external transfer option available on this unit.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 16.00 x 10.06 x 0.62 inch chassis need on a desk or in a bag?

The laptop measures 16.00 inches wide, 10.06 inches deep and 0.62 inches high, weighing 5.06 lb; allow a few extra millimetres for cables and the 45 W power adapter.

Which screw secures the 8 GB SODIMM module when upgrading the 12 GB DDR4 memory?

Remove the base cover screws, locate the single SODIMM slot beside the 4 GB onboard memory, insert the module at an angle and press down until the side clips click; the slot supports DDR4 only.

When should the 3-cell 47 WHr battery be replaced?

Replace the internal battery when run-time drops below your needs; it is not user-swappable, so a service centre must open the chassis to fit a new pack.
