17.3" IPS display and dual storage

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3 inch Full HD IPS laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with four cores and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, 8 GB of DDR4 memory, a 1 TB SATA SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 AX201, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI, USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1, USB 3.2 Gen1, two USB 2.0 ports and a micro SD reader.

Suited for office work and media viewing

This configuration suits users who need a large screen for documents, web browsing and video playback, plus the responsiveness of an SSD and the capacity of a hard drive in one chassis. Buyers who want a dedicated graphics processor for gaming or 3D rendering should look elsewhere, as the system relies on Intel UHD integrated graphics. Those who require a touchscreen or a higher refresh rate panel will also need a different model.

8 GB DDR4 memory in a mixed layout

The laptop provides 8 GB of DDR4 RAM arranged as 4 GB soldered on board plus a 4 GB SO-DIMM module. This layout means only the SO-DIMM slot can be upgraded, limiting maximum memory expansion compared to designs with two removable slots.

Questions about this item

Will the laptop charge or send video through its USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1 port?

The USB 3.2 Type-C Gen1 port handles data only; charging and external displays use the 45 W power adapter and the HDMI output respectively.

Can I keep using my USB 2.0 mouse and keyboard alongside the faster ports?

Yes, the two USB 2.0 ports remain fully functional for legacy peripherals while the USB 3.2 Gen1 and Type-C ports serve newer devices.

How do I confirm the Wi-Fi 6 AX201 adapter is active after setup?

Open Device Manager, expand Network adapters and verify Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 appears without warning icons; a 5 GHz connection in Windows network settings further confirms operation.
