17.3" laptop with dual storage

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3 inch Windows 11 Pro laptop built around a 10th generation Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor. It pairs 8GB of DDR4 memory with a 128GB SATA SSD and a 1TB hard drive. The 1920 x 1080 IPS display runs at 60Hz and is not a touchscreen. Integrated Intel UHD graphics handle the video output.

Upgrading from smaller or slower machines

This model replaces a laptop that lacks solid-state storage or offers less screen area. The jump is worth it when you need the 128GB SSD for faster boot and application loads while keeping the 1TB hard drive for large files. The four-core processor with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency improves multitasking over dual-core predecessors. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 update the wireless stack.

Suited to office and study use

Buyers who want a large display, a numeric keypad and both SSD speed and hard-drive capacity in one new device will find this configuration fits. It is not for buyers who want more storage performance than a SATA SSD provides, who need a dedicated graphics processor, who require a touchscreen, or who prefer a lighter chassis for frequent travel.

The chassis measures 16.00 IN wide by 10.06 IN deep by .62 IN high and weighs 5.06lb, so check your bag’s internal dimensions against those figures.
