Large-screen work laptop

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3 inch Full HD IPS laptop powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB SATA SSD, running Windows 11 Pro. It is built for office workers and students who need a spacious display and ample storage for documents and media. The silver chassis includes a backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, 720p webcam, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.

Buyers needing discrete graphics

This model suits users who prioritise screen real estate and storage capacity over gaming or heavy creative workloads; the integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles everyday tasks and video playback but not modern 3D titles. The memory configuration uses 4 GB soldered plus a 4 GB SO-DIMM, limiting future expansion, so buyers who anticipate needing more than 8 GB should consider other options.

The deciding spec

The 2 TB SATA SSD is the single specification that determines fit: it provides a large solid-state volume for the operating system and files, while the SATA interface defines the sequential transfer ceiling for this configuration.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.6 GHz turbo frequency feel in everyday Windows 11 Pro use?

The Core i5-1035G1 runs at 1.00 GHz base and boosts to 3.6 GHz on up to four cores, giving snappy response for office apps, web browsing and light multitasking on the 17.3" 1920 x 1080 IPS panel.

What real-world speed does the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port deliver?

The USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port operates at 5 Gbps, suitable for fast external SSDs, docks or 1080p video capture, and it sits alongside one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A and two USB 2.0 ports.

Will a standard 2.5-inch drive fit inside the 0.62-inch thick chassis?

The laptop is 16.00 x 10.06 x 0.62 inches and ships with a 2TB SATA M.2 SSD; there is no 2.5-inch bay, so storage expansion is limited to the single M.2 slot or external drives.
