17.3" Full HD IPS laptop

The ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 is a 17.3-inch laptop with a 1920 x 1080 IPS display, an Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor reaching 3.6 GHz turbo frequency, and 12GB of DDR4 memory. It combines a 512GB SATA SSD with a 1TB hard drive for mixed storage needs. Windows 11 Home 64-bit is pre-installed.

Suits office work and media viewing.

This configuration suits students and professionals handling documents, web browsing, and video playback on a large screen. The integrated Intel UHD graphics and 60Hz panel limit its appeal for buyers who want discrete graphics performance, higher refresh rates, or touchscreen interaction.

Dual-drive storage with SATA SSD and hard drive

The defining specification is the combined 512GB SATA SSD and 1TB HDD, delivering both fast boot and application loading plus a large capacity for files. Buyers who need a single large solid-state volume or a different storage interface should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I add RAM to the 4 GB onboard and 8 GB DDR4 SODIMM configuration?

Remove the bottom cover, locate the single SODIMM slot beside the soldered 4 GB module, insert the 8 GB DDR4 stick until the retention clips engage, then reassemble.

Which storage drive will likely need replacement first under heavy write workloads?

The 512 GB SATA SSD has a finite write endurance; the 1 TB HDD handles sustained writes longer but is slower.

What thermal limit appears first during prolonged full-load use?

The 45 W power adapter and 47 Wh battery constrain sustained turbo clocks, causing the CPU to throttle below 3.6 GHz.
