17.3-inch laptop for everyday multitasking

This ASUS VivoBook S712JA-WH54 pairs a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with 20GB of DDR4 memory. The 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60Hz. It ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit and includes a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard and 720p webcam.

Dual-drive storage and modern wireless

A 512GB SATA SSD holds the operating system and applications for quick boot times, while a 2TB hard drive provides large-capacity file storage. Connectivity uses Wi-Fi 6 AX201 and Bluetooth 5.1. Ports include USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, a micro SD reader and a headphone/microphone combo jack.

Suited for office work and study.

The integrated Intel UHD graphics handle desktop productivity, video streaming and light photo editing. Buyers who need discrete GPU performance for gaming, 3D rendering or professional video work should look elsewhere. The 47 WHr battery and 45W power supply support mobile use, though the 5.06lb weight makes it less suited to frequent travel.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB SODIMM be replaced with a larger DDR4 module later?

The laptop has 4 GB soldered and one 16 GB DDR4 SODIMM; the SODIMM slot accepts standard DDR4 modules up to the platform limit.

Does the 512 GB SATA SSD or the Intel UHD graphics hit its thermal ceiling first during long sessions?

The integrated Intel UHD graphics share the CPU thermal budget and will throttle before the SATA SSD reaches its operating limit.

How loud is the fan and what is the surface temperature when the 45 W adapter runs the 1035G1 at 3.6 GHz all day?

The 3‑cell 47 Wh battery and 45 W supply mean the fan spins up under sustained turbo, producing audible airflow and warm palm‑rest areas.
